The Selection Process
All applicants must meet the criteria which include submitting all required paperwork on or before the due date.
After the due date
- Committee member reviews the applications for completion and enclosure of all required documentation. Faculty member verifies GPA, semester etc.
- A personal interview is set up with each applicant to complete the selection process.
- An interview tool is used where each applicant is assigned a total score by each member of the interview committee. The scores are averaged, and the applicant receives a final score. Scholarships are awarded based on the scores.
- After the selection process is completed, successful recipients are notified by a telephone call and a letter. Non recipients are notified by email only. All recipients will be notified within two weeks after the interview.
Expectations of the scholarship recipients

- Agree to attend the virtual scholarship event on time and remain until the conclusion
- Sell a minimum of two (2) tickets and/or purchase as many ads as desired ($100 minimum) e.g. by church members, friends, family, civic and community organizations, businesses etc. in the souvenir booklet.
- Submit all information by the deadline
- Have pictures taken at the event, individually, with donors and/or in groups.
- Become a supporter of the Nurses Alumni Chapter
- through active membership
- work on a subcommittee for next year’s event e.g. program, souvenir booklet, tickets, registration etc.
- Send thank you letter or card on the day of the event to give to the donor of your scholarship. If scholarship monies are received from more than one donor, a thank you must be given to each donor separately.
- You must maintain our eligibility including being a full-time student at the CON to receive your scholarship. If your status changes to part-time (unless awarded part-time scholarship), or if you change your major of nursing (no longer at student at Prairie View) you will not receive the scholarship.
