NURSE HONOREE PROGRAM gUIDELINES

OVERVIEW

Consistent with our mission and vision to provide nursing scholarships, the Prairie View Nurses Alumni Chapter holds an annual scholarship event where the proceeds are used for that purpose. We also, at this luncheon, honor nurses who support and preserve the legacy of nursing. These achievers are graduates of Prairie View A&M University, College of Nursing and are loyal, outstanding supporters of nursing and uphold the values, goals, and vision articulated by the Nurses Alumni Chapter. A maximum of four persons who best meet the criteria are selected as honorees. The selected nominees are presented at the scholarship event, given a plaque and pictured in the souvenir booklet with information that depicts their contributions to nursing. The call for nominees will begin within three months of the event.

WHO CAN NOMINATE?

Members of the Nurses Alumni Chapter or someone who has knowledge of an individual’s noteworthy characteristics, contributions, and career experiences may submit the nominee(s) name (s). 

THE NOMINATING PROCESS

After the call for nominees which is submitted annually, the nominator does the following:

• Describes each nominee in three or less type written pages by addressing as many of the elements in each area of the selection criteria that personifies why the nominee should be chosen. It is important in the description that examples are included to support the nominee’s characteristics, accomplishments, contributions and career experiences.
• Completes the Acknowledgement of Permission to Participate form and the three or less type written pages describing the nominee. 

WHEN TO SUBMIT

The information is submitted to the Nurse Honoree Subcommittee Chair within six weeks after the call for nominees.
